Connect With Your Heart & Find Your Purpose

It has been said, “Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards.” Your purpose might only be understood in retrospect, but you can begin to see where you will feel most purposeful going forward when you look back to where you have felt most fulfilled in the past—where you felt most at home. Your purpose won’t be a box you force yourself into. It will be what you loved, created and desired.

At iamHeart we look at energy and emotion. We categorize the human energies and emotions into the four classic elements: Air, Fire, Water, & Earth. Each element represents a grouping of energies we are familiar with on an emotional level.  

We all have an energy. Most descriptions of a person’s personality could also be descriptions of their energy: frenetic, serious, quiet, bubbly. Your personality began to form when you were a baby, and it has evolved every day since. When we look at the trends in our life, like our interests, actions and character traits that have guided us forward thus far, as well as the times we have felt purposeful or truly connected with something, we start to see patterns. It is possible to use tools of introspection that have existed for thousands of years to help us see these patterns more clearly.

How do we begin to become introspective with an energetic perspective? We start with meditation.

These energies are what we focus on within ourselves to get a sense of our direction forward. By categorizing what it is that we want most, and which energies within us are strongest, we can proceed consciously towards our desire using our energies most effectively, and connect with it more to find our purpose.

About Susanna and Puran

Susanna Bair is President and co-founder of iamHeart.  The lead teacher of Heart Rhythm Meditation, she teaches spiritual practices for stress resilience, goal setting, personal and professional success, spiritual deepening, and healing psychological wounds. Susanna specializes in guiding group retreats, one-on-one spiritual guidance and working with women’s spirituality.   She is the supervisor for the iamHeart Mentoring Program, through which she guides the spiritual mentoring of 150 students.  Susanna was honored to receive the Alyce and Elmer Green Award for Innovation from the International Society for Subtle Energy and Energy Medicine (ISSSEEM) in 2008.  Susanna and Puran, working together, have authored four source books on Heart Rhythm Meditation, Energy Psychology and the spiritual path, which were published internationally in English and translated to Portuguese, German and Chinese. Susanna has a PhD ABD in psychology from the Univ. of Vienna and a MA in counseling therapy from Antioch.

Puran Bair is Vice President and Co-Founder of iamHeart.  Puran is a successor of Pir Vilayat Khan (d. 2004), with whom he was privileged to have a close relationship over a 33-year discipleship. Pir Vilayat was the son and successor of Hazrat Inayat Khan (d. 1927), the first Indian sage to bring the message of universal mysticism to the West. In 1989 Puran and Susanna  were charged by Pir Vilayat with the continuation of his teaching and its integration with science.  Puran has  worked with leading researchers to document the physiological changes that occur during meditation demonstrating dramatic changes in metabolism, heart rate variability, brain waves, light emission and electromagnetism.  Puran’s background is in technology and business, with a PhD ABD in Computer Science from the Univ. of Pennsylvania. He  has worked in  computer research labs, started several high-tech companies, and consulted senior management in international banking, insurance and finance.
