HRM Basics: How to Sit
The Basics of Heart Rhythm Meditation
#1: How To Sit
Try our method under the guidance of iamHeart co-founder Susanna Bair.

We must teach ourselves how to relax; relaxation has become something rare and unknown. . In our lives, so full of stress, we are very rarely completely still, and even if we’re not moving, our muscles retain some tension.
When a person contracts or stretches a muscle, their inner vitality is brought outward to accomplish some purpose. For example, when a person lifts something heavy, they charge their physical body with the energy which is within, and that energy then expresses itself through their muscles and nerves.
Relaxation has the opposite effect: the inner vitality is conserved and actually builds up within. Healing of nerves, muscles, organs and all tissues, which was suspended during active exertion, is resumed. Inspirational and creative thinking flows easily during mystical relaxation, as opposed to reactive thinking which is stimulated by physical motion and activity.
Mystical relaxation occurs naturally during sleep, but it is a great advantage to be able to put oneself into deep relaxation at will — not only in order to pass into sleep deliberately, but also to gain the benefit of reflection during a conversation or when confronted with a dilemma.
