Webcourse #201WThe second-level course is designed to make the attainment of Heart Rhythm Meditation rapid and reliable. The method of breath and heartbeat is augmented by sounds that literally vibrate the heart. The sound itself is both a cause and an effect of the meditation state, so it provides feedback by which you can rapidly tune and strengthen your heart. This course is open to all those who have completed Heart Rhythm Practice Level 1. The course material is taken from Susanna Bair's paper, "Self-Generated Sounds Used to Modulate Consciousness," given at the First World Symposium on Psychology, Vienna, 1996. The objective is to demonstrate each of 8 sounds such that they stimulate a response in your heart and in the hearts of others. With this ability, you will have gained a set of powerful tools that you can apply to Living from the Heart. For example, one sound expands the width of your energetic heart, giving the ability to radiate waves of harmony in any situation. Another sound develops the creativity in the forward dimension of your heart. A third sound strikes the depth of compassion in your heart. The sounds do much more than remind you of these states; they take you there and make it natural for you to live in that condition. By being able to create the sounds yourself, you have a resource you can call upon at any time to tune your heart as you need it to be. This course is designed for Instructors, Teachers and Mentors in IAM. It is a prerequisite for Instructor Training #4 and for Mentor Training #4. (The course is also valuable for mentees working with an IAM mentor. But you should not attempt to self-prescribe sound meditations without the guidance of your mentor.) We will learn to create eight sounds:
For each sound, there will be pages of written instructions as well as a recording of the sound done by Puran. You will practice the sound on your own, then record a sample of your sound and attach it to a message in the Dome. The size of this course is limited to 20 paticipants, and requires some computer expertise in recording sound and using a software program called an audio spectrum analyzer. To ensure that participants have the necessary computer equipment and skill before the webcourse begins, an application process is required.
Your application will be accepted if there is still room in the course and you have enough experience in HRM. You will then receive an email with instructions about how to register. |
"The life current comes through the breath and manifests through the voice and touches another person. It is not true that a person hears sound only through the ears; it permeates through one's whole being. The sound either slows the rhythm or it quickens the rhythm of the blood circulation; it either awakens the nervous system or it soothes it; it arouses a person to higher passions or it calms by bringing peace. Therefore the knowledge of sound can place in the hand of a person a magical instrument with which to tune, wind, control and utilize life to the best advantage." -- Hazrat Inayat Khan, d. 1927.
